It’s our Birthday!

It’s our Birthday!

It’s been exactly one year since we have launched and what a year it has been!

As a present to ourselves, we have completely redesigned our website.  Take a look for yourselves and let us know what you think!

It has been a very busy and exciting 12 months and we have developed so much in such a short period of time.  Below is a summary of all the things we have managed to achieve:

Expansion

https://labs.uk.barclays/locations/cardiff-en

Eagle Lab Cardiff

First off, there has been a lot of changes to the business in terms of logistics and team growth.  We have now moved our offices to the Barclays Eagle Labs in Cardiff city centre. This has enabled us to expand our working facilities and we plan to use the new space very soon.

I mentioned that we have grown as a team; we have been delighted to recruit some highly skilled new team members this year.  Having the new office space has allowed us to accommodate the bigger team, empowering us to lead the AI revolution.

As of 1 July 2018, we are also excited to take on a student from Cardiff University for a year in industry.  We believe it is important to get undergraduates the necessary experience they need to achieve their future aspirations.

Active involvement in the economic future

During the year we entered a competition for the chance to speak at the AI Wales digital festival.  We were very proud to be selected winners of the contest.

https://eventsnwales.com/event/digital-festival/

Digital Festival Wales

As such, we set up a stand at the festival where we seized the opportunity to increase our exposure and our presence in the Welsh business space.  We showcased our work to other participators of the festival. Our services impressed a variety of businesses such that we took on a number of clients.

Not only that, we have been invited to do a talk at the latest AI Wales talk event, details of which you can find here in order to sign up and attend.  As it so happens, this falls directly on our birthday so come and say hello and join in with the birthday celebration.

We will be presenting about the ethics of self driving cars and it will be led by our founder Toby White.  This will be another great opportunity for us to connect with you and explain why AI is already becoming a vital part in business progression and growth.

Finally, as you will have noted from our homepage, we had the brilliant opportunity to have conversations with the Welsh government about the future of AI.  This included how many AI technologies can be be implemented now to improve business performance and also how it will grow in the future.

The talk was led by founder Toby White and he had further conversations with the authorities about the upcoming AI sector deal.  Artimus is going to be heavily involved with the new deal in place so you can expect to see us intertwined with the advancements in future technology.

But we are not stopping here.

The next 12 months are going to be just as exciting as the previous.

We are delighted to be part of IBM’s new PowerAI power platform that is now in development.  We recognisewww.ibm.com that this is an exciting new chapter in Artimus’ reach in that such a giant in the technology industry in IBM shares the same vision for the future of AI as Artimus.

We cannot wait to get started on this and share what we have to offer to the world.

As an internal goal, we are aiming to launch a product available for purchase by the end of September.  This AI technology will be available to all businesses to help them achieve their goals in whatever sector they service.

Finally, we will be helping our friends over at Codez Academy in supporting the next generation of people develop their coding skills specifically towards AI.  More details on this will be coming soon.

The year ahead promises to show that Artimus is leading the innovation in AI.  We hope that you will share the journey with us.

AI Wales’ First Meetup: A Success!

AI Wales’ First Meetup: A Success!

AI Wales’ first event at Tramshed Tech saw over 70 people attend the event. Individuals from an array of employment learned how Artificial intelligence could be implemented to help start-ups, SMEs, employees and their business development.

(2 Minute Read)

AI Wales provided attendees with an in an introduction to Artificial Intelligence and its multiple segments in order to build a foundation of knowledge for the upcoming weeks – it’s never too late to come to our events as we always provided an overview of what has been talked about during the last few meetups! After all, the aim of AI Wales is to raise awareness and inform you on how to reach the next level of competence!

Introduction to mainstream AI topics such as self-driving cars, business automation, data analysis, machine learning and biometric identification was covered so that our audience could develop an insight into the direction Artificial Intelligence technologies are heading, and clear up misconceptions commonly held surrounding the topics.

We caught up with Toby White (Artificial Intelligence specialist & Founder of ARTIMUS) during his Q&A. This is what he had to say:

“We were very impressed with the engagement and enthusiasm of our audience. We covered an array of topics throughout this first meetup which aims to provide a solid foundation and direction for future areas. The networking opportunity was very enjoyable, and we are definitely looking forward to seeing new faces in the upcoming weeks (and having more pizza). I would say that this event has been a success and provided everyone with everything we’d hoped for from our first meetup.”

The aim was to involve the audience in contributing towards the shape of AI Wales’ future talks and meetups, so, we encouraged networking amongst ourselves whilst enjoying some pizza and beer on the evening of the event to complement our Q&A with our enthusiastic audience – ultimately, the purpose these talks is to be shaped by the direction of the group so that we can deliver the information our followers want to learn.

Our group’s first talk was delivered by Jaymie Thomas (CTO of Automise), David Pugh (Technology Specialist), and our very own Toby White (Founder at ARTIMUS). If you consider yourself an expert in the AI and emerging technologies field, why not contact us about delivering presentations at our meetups and share your stories and insights with the group? We are looking forward to meeting all of you and making you all aware of the vision we have in shaping Cardiff’s Artificial Intelligence landscape.

ARTIMUS Sponsors Wales’ first Artificial Intelligence Group

ARTIMUS Sponsors Wales’ first Artificial Intelligence Group

We are delighted to announce that ARTIMUS has co-founded AI Wales – a Cardiff-based meetup which holds talks, training sessions and hands-on workshops which explores the opportunities offered by Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

The aim of AI Wales is to raise awareness and inform our guests on how AI can help their businesses reach the next level of competence. Our group’s first talk will be held at Tramshed Tech, Pendyris Street on Thursday the 1st of February where we are sponsoring the event and focusing on the topic of Machine Learning, delivered by Jaymie Thomas (CTO of Automise), David Pugh (Technology Specialist), and our very own Toby White (Founder at ARTIMUS).

Artificial Intelligence Wales

So how did this all begin? Well, Jaymie first met David last September where they both held firm interests in the AI space. They came to a conclusion where they wanted to launch a series of AI events around Cardiff. They noticed that there was a huge gap in the local meet-up scene regarding Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. So, they decided to team up with Toby from ARTIMUS, which are one of Cardiff’s leading AI specialists, to deliver talks in educating people on how these technologies can easily be used to help work alongside us and help our businesses grow.

Set to take place monthly, the talks will be aimed at anyone who is willing to learn about the world of Artificial Intelligence from scratch and to anyone who is eager to explore and discuss how the latest trends in a constantly evolving area can be made into mainstream technologies.

We want these talks to be shaped by the direction of the group so that we can give people the information they want to learn.

This week we spoke to Lloyd Skinner, CEO of Greyfly, to hear how his AI risk assessment tool was getting on!

This week we spoke to Lloyd Skinner, CEO of Greyfly, to hear how his AI risk assessment tool was getting on!

ARTIMUS have helped a reputable business management company based in Bristol and have created a bespoke AI & Machine learning solution to assist with Business Risk Management Assessment requirements

The following is a Q&A between Toby, our CEO and Lloyd Skinner, the CEO and Founder of Greyfly.

Toby: Who are Greyfly?

Lloyd: At Greyfly our main services centre on providing advice in Business Planning, Project Management and Talent Development. It’s our mission to push clients for results-driven growth and ensure they “See the Wood from the Trees”, as it were. If you’re looking to grow your business or for your projects to succeed then we have the knowledge and experience to support you in achieving that goal.

Toby: What challenges were you facing before we started working together?
Lloyd: We wanted a simpler way for our clients, both present and future, to be able to identify and prioritise the risks within their business. Assessing each risk parameter individually can take time, and time is very valuable in business, as many owners will tell you.

Toby: Why did you choose to partner with ARTIMUS?

Lloyd: We pride ourselves on working with innovative companies, and ARTIMUS hit all the right notes in that regard. They understood our requirements and were able to effectively communicate how the solution will work and the predicted outcomes.

Toby: How have you benefited from us?

Lloyd: We’ve been able to provide a fast free-to-use business assessment solution that instantly highlights the risks a business should be focusing on and what risks they are dealing with well. This has helped not only us but our clients and those using the tool via our website.

Toby: Are you happy with our services?

Lloyd: We are very happy with the result. The quality of work is to a very high standard and we can’t wait to continue working with ARTIMUS in developing phase two of the business risk assessment tool.

Codez Academy’s participants complete their Get Into Digital Campaign during their placement week at ARTIMUS – Week Overview

Progress Review: Codez Academy’s participants complete their Get Into Digital Campaign during their placement week at ARTIMUS

After their successful placement in one of Cardiff’s fastest-growing AI start-ups, Harry and Steven have excelled at the targets set out by ARTIMUS. They have been provided with a review which assesses their technical abilities and skillsets which aims to identify their strengths and weaknesses. Harry and Steven were also given an insight into the uprising world of artificial intelligence, industry-approved web design frameworks and client relations and negotiations. Due to their proficiency and hard-working ethic, ARTIMUS decided to help these participants with their first web design client as a gesture of good will and in an attempt to build a platform for two very bright futures.

To keep our followers updated on our participant’s progress as promised, we caught up with Harry and Steven after their successful placement. Harry told us that, “coding a digital CV from scratch has helped me showcase both my abilities and learn from Toby and the team’s coding capabilities, which in no doubt will prove to be invaluable for me in the future”. Mr White’s passion and ambition towards the AI industry has opened my eyes and his intuition has driven me to build on my talents and future”. Steven was also very pleased with his progress throughout his last week. This is what he had to say; “I did not expect such a fast-paced environment when I began this week’s placement at ARTIMUS. Their team were very welcoming and helpful with any assistance we needed. I have undoubtedly built on my skills and gained confidence in my abilities. Mr White has provided us with a platform to build on and I am extremely grateful for their time and belief in us.”

Harry and Steven left at the end of this week knowing that they have made themselves far more employable and have been significantly provided with a deeper understanding into the world of coding and web design. They have pleased everyone with their will to learn and our door is always open for them and anyone else for that matter which is ready to build on their understanding of coding and artificial intelligence.”
